Belper bicycle club visits Narnia

The weather, yet again, was temperamental for the ride on Saturday, and although chilli at the start, we hoped for better. However, this was not to be. Riding over to Cumberhills, we hit torrential rain and squalling winds, which dropped the mood and tone of the ride straight from the off.

Further down the road, we came upon what can only be described as a secret gateway where we explored the mysterious world of Narnia, a gateway to another, hopefully, sunny ride.

Joking aside, the ride continued to be cold and wet for some time until, eventually, the sunshine came through, and we were glad to be out of the rain peddling through sections of the road that could only be described at best rough until we eventually reached Tissington Café.

From this point forward, although it was windy, the ride was generally good going. The roads were great, but the wind was still in our faces.

For the final stretch home, the group headed down the A6 in an organised fashion, almost resembling a cycling club, with the speed, tempo, and pace of the line, ensuring that everyone got to Belper in good time and together.

We welcomed two new riders today who stayed with the group and were strong until the end, with one commenting that the pace line coming back was great fun, and they had both thoroughly enjoyed the ride with Belper for the first time. Good ride, good times, and just a bit damp. #NoOneLeftBehind
