How to wirelessly sync 'Ride With GPS' routes to Garmin devices

There have been a number of members with Garmin devices who have been asking how they can wirelessly sync routes from Ride With GPS to their GPS device. There are links in the FAQ part of the web site that explain this (also for Wahoo devices), but here is a quick guide on what to do:

There are 2 ways to wirelessly sync routes from Ride With GPS to your Garmin device:

  • Option 1 - Sync your Ride With GPS and Garmin Connect accounts

  • Option 2 - Using the RWGPS Connect IQ App to Download and Sync Courses

Option 1 is the simplest solution and doesn’t require the user to install the Connect IQ app on phone and GPS device - this is the option we will use.

The instructions for Option 1 are as follows:

  • On the Garmin Support page, expand and follow each of the highlighted sections below that explains how to:

    • Sync your Ride With GPS and Garmin Connect accounts so that pinned routes will be synchronised to your GPS device

    • Use Ride With GPS in a Web Browser to pin routes

    • Use the RWGPS App to pin routes

After a route is 'pinned', then when you open the 'Courses' folder on your Garmin GPS device, the routes should automatically appear. If they don't then press the Sync button in your Garmin Connect App on your phone.

Useful Notes:

  • This is a one way process so courses will not be deleted on your GPS device if you unpin the route in Ride With GPS - you have to manually delete them on your GPS device by swiping left and choosing the delete option.

  • Routes that are pinned will automatically be synced if an update to the route has been made.

  • Only 10 pinned routes can be sync'd so remember to unpin them when not required.

  • All pinned routes can be found from the Dashboard in your Ride With GPS account or in the Library section of the RWGPS App - with the option to unpin them:
