8 intrepid riders set off from the Triangle for the long ride to East Leake in light rain that turned heavier the more East we travelled. A puncture and a retirement due to a seized wheel hub didn't deter the riders who were determined to reach the cafe whatever the weather threw at us. Entering Antlers cafe soaking wet and with chattering teeth, we couldn't believe we were still in Summer! Nice hot coffee and good food, we took our time as none of us wanted to go back out in the rain, but a glimpse of sun warmed our hearts, and it wasn't long before the sun came out and Summer was back!
Heading back through Derby on the cycle tracks we saw plenty of trees/branches brought down from the previous day's high winds.
The early bad weather bonded the group, and resulted in great feedback on how good the route and cafe were today.
Well done all with persisting. Bikes in bits ready for spares. I even had the time to put the Belper mud flap extenders on 😂 no ones getting wet behind me now they’ve got some length
