Two groups set off with the second group soon picking up Charlie and Pete in Pentrich. It was from this point on the rain steadily got harder and harder and after a particularly sketchy descent down from Crich to Whatstandwell the group as a whole decided to bail and head back up the A6 with a few of us popping in to the Dev.
A quick check on Strava tells me that most of the first group completed the route so Chapeau to them.
Perhaps next year I’ll try waiting until it’s summer before attempting this route again?
