Sunday Social to Denstone

Thirteen riders in 2 groups made their way to deepest darkest Staffordshire on this weeks Sunday Social.

First delay was stuck traffic lights at Duffield causing a huge tailback that wasn’t moving. This was negated by a quick walk along the pavement!

The outward route was lumpy accompanied by short light drizzle which upgraded to proper rain about 5 miles short of Denstone and then at the cafe everything was bone dry!

Second delay was the cafe at Denstone. A huge queue meant we got to the till 1 min after they stopped doing breakfast and 29 mins before lunch so no chance of anything hot.

We then set off on the return using the southern flatter route and we encountered the 3rd delay when we had a puncture in the group. This was soon resolved and we returned to Belper in the sunshine.

Thanks to all the delays and the slightly longer than usual route we didn’t get back until 2.30. Still a very social ride with an average speed of 12.5mph.
