Twelve riders out today in glorious autumn sunshine for the 40 mile ride to Darley Moor Cafe.
We set off as one group but it soon became apparent on the climb though Millington Green that there was an natural split in the group with 7 riders in the first and 5 in the second though a couple of punctures in the first group saw that the second group arrived at the cafe first!
The cafe was having its last opening day of the season which seemed to have attached many of the bikers from Derbyshire and beyond. Although very busy we got served pretty quickly and I got a huge slab of lemon cake.
We once again set off from the cafe in one group and the group split again in the first hill. Once again the second group gained the lead when the first group had a mechanical!
There faster group past us again a short time later with one of our group defecting to the faster group, well at least I’m hoping that’s where they went!
Return to Belper was about 2pm for the slower group, thanks to everyone who joined us today.
